Day 1 - 32km's
The whole field will start off with a +/-6km open road run so that you can spread out before hitting single track and uneven road . Your first big climb of the day will take you through some misty forests to the top of Mbona Game reserve . Once at the top you will be awarded with some amazing views of the reserve (I suggest you do a fast hike up). Once at the top you can stretch your legs down through the Bushbuck Trail and Mbona Game Reserve before hitting the main road and back onto some gravel roads. Depending on how wet it is at the time you might get to cross through and over Twin Falls (a sharp descend and ascent) or (if too wet) you will need to go around meaning down and up the valley... (Personally I don’t know which is better/worse). Now you will get to the hard part of the day, climbing up the side of the mountain on a grassy path, but as always once at the top you will be spoiled with great views of the Karkloof Valley and cross over Greymare’s Falls. Your descent will take you through magical forests, watch out for slippery rocks and overhead branches. Enjoy some of the last pristine forest of the day before heading home and enjoying a hearty lunch.
Watertables: 3 tables on this route with 3 checkpoints
Day 2 - 42km's
Once you’re at the top the rest is a walk in Gilboa with forestry roads meandering in and out of Pine forests, taking you past crane breeding grounds and allowing you to really stretch your legs, get in the rhythm, clear your mind and enjoy some easy running. Heading back you will reward you with great views and a special treat by finishing off the day through the cool forest. Look out thought it’s a bit of a sting in the tail!
Make sure to look back as you start descending down the last downhill as you will have the best view of Greymare falls.
Day 3 - 32km's
